The Book of Jonah is an unusual book from Minor Prophets in the Old Testament. It is usually portrayed by Children Sunday School as God sent a big fish to rescue Jonah. He was swallowed by the big fish and inside the big fish, Jonah prayed for God and finally he was thrown up by the big fish into dry land. As we look at the Book of Jonah in more details, we need to answer a series of questions in order understand the story behind Jonah.
Who Jonah was?
Why he refused to go to Nineveh?
Why he was angry when God showed mercy to the people of Nineveh?
How did God teach Jonah a lesson?
The events of Ruth took place during the period of the judges that was more than three thousands years ago. Bethlehem in Hebrew are two words which means house of bread. Ironically Bethlehem encountered a famine and forced Elimelech (Elimeleck another spelling), his wife and his two sons to migrate in the land of Moab. The book of Ruth is a very simple story about Naomi, wife of Elimelech, after the death of her husband, her two sons took Moabite wives and stayed in Moab for another ten years. Tragically, Naomi’s two sons also died. Naomi then took a drastic decision to return to Bethlehem, initially her two daughters-in-law followed her, Naomi persuaded them to turn back to Moab. At the end, Orpah left but Ruth insisted to follow her.
Prayer life is an essential element for each christian, using Lord’s Prayer from Matthew 6:9-13 (NKJV) as blue print to learn how to pray.
9 In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

The numerous translation notes are the main feature of NET bible, reader may study the notes for the reasons how to come up the current English translation.
